The role of data in public health has never been more important, especially in research and policymaking. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we can see how essential it is that we manage and analyze data responsibly so that it cannot be misused by people, intentionally or otherwise. Under the CFI Lab of this 7-week Joint Summer Internship, the students (i) explored the publicly available COVID-19 data collected by the Department of Health (DOH), (ii) learned ethical data management practices, data processing, and data visualization, and (iii) constructed and communicated policy recommendations backed by data.
